Testing Methodology
Define Scope & Objectives
Identify in-scope applications, environments, user roles, and testing depth. Enumerate application endpoints, APIs, technologies, and attack surface — including hidden directories, metadata leaks, and sensitive file exposure.
Vulnerability Identification
Perform manual and automated testing to discover security weaknesses across authentication, authorisation, session management, input validation, injection, cryptography, business logic, and API security following OWASP WSTG methodology.
Exploitation & Validation
Safely exploit vulnerabilities to confirm real-world impact and severity. Each finding is CVSS-scored and assessed for exploitability, data exposure risk, and business impact — not just theoretical severity.
Reporting, Remediation & Retest
Deliver a detailed report with developer-ready remediation guidance, proof-of-concept steps, and screenshots. Following remediation, validate fixes with a full retest and issue a final cleared report for compliance submission.

Engagement Deliverables
Manual testing included.
Automated is not enough.

Why 443 Labs
The pentest difference that actually secures your application.
Manual Testing, Not Scanner Output
Every engagement includes significant manual tester time. Business logic flaws, authentication bypasses, and IDOR vulnerabilities cannot be found by automated scanners — only by experienced testers who understand application behaviour.
Business Logic Testing Included
We test price manipulation, workflow bypasses, race conditions, and excessive data exposure — the vulnerabilities that exist in your business logic, not just your technology stack. Most commodity providers skip this entirely.
Retest Always Included
Unlimited retest of all medium, high, and critical findings is included in every engagement. We don't create an incentive to leave vulnerabilities open by billing separately for verification.
Compliance-Ready Reports
Our reports are formatted to satisfy PCI DSS Req 11.4, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and regulatory audit requirements. No reformatting, no additional documentation — delivered ready for your assessor or auditor.
Not Sure Where to Start
We'll scope your web app pentest and tell you what coverage requires.
Whether you're meeting a compliance deadline, securing a new release, or responding to a security incident — our testers will define the right scope, depth, and approach for your application and business context.
Testing Coverage
Common Questions
How often should web applications be penetration tested?
At least annually, and after major changes such as new features, infrastructure changes, or significant code releases. Most compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2) require annual application penetration testing as a minimum.
Is testing automated or manual?
443 Labs performs primarily manual testing supported by automated tools for better accuracy and coverage. Automated scanners identify known CVEs — manual testing finds business logic flaws, access control bypasses, and application-specific vulnerabilities that scanners cannot.
Do you follow a standard methodology?
Yes. Testing aligns with the OWASP Web Security Testing Guide (WSTG), OWASP Top 10, and PTES (Penetration Testing Execution Standard). Our reports reference CWE and CVSS categories for all findings.
Will we receive a remediation-ready report?
Yes. Reports include technical details, reproduction steps, screenshots, CVSS impact ratings, and developer-ready fix guidance. Following remediation, we retest all medium, high, and critical findings and issue a final cleared report.
Is a web app pentest enough for PCI DSS compliance?
PCI DSS Requirement 11.4 requires penetration testing of all in-scope applications. Our web app pentest report is produced to align with PCI DSS testing requirements including network segmentation verification where applicable.
