DPIA Process
Privacy Scope & PII Data Inventory
Define the processing scope and identify all personal and special category data involved. Conduct a Personal Data Inventory and Data Flow Mapping exercise across networks, systems, APIs, and vendors — covering collection, processing, storage, sharing, and cross-border transfers.
Privacy Compliance Gap Assessment
Identify applicable privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, PDPA) and assess compliance against privacy processes and security controls. Evaluate data minimisation practices, retention policies, consent mechanisms, DPO requirements, and third-party risk controls.
Information Security Risk Assessment
Conduct a technical security assessment across access controls, encryption, network security, application security, endpoint security, and monitoring. Identify threats, evaluate risk exposure, and assess third-party data transfer controls (SCCs/BCRs).
DPIA Report & Compliance Maintenance
Produce a formal DPIA report in the applicable regulatory format (GDPR Art. 35, DPDP Act, etc.) with DPO sign-off and stakeholder review. Provide a Compliance Maintenance Tracker for ongoing annual reviews and significant change re-assessments.
Assessment Areas
Our DPIA covers two interconnected assessment areas: privacy-related compliance (data handling, consent, DPO obligations) and data security (technical controls, infrastructure, and threat exposure). Together they address the full regulatory requirement.

Why 443 Labs
The privacy assessment difference that satisfies regulators.
Technical + Legal Privacy Coverage
Most firms bring either legal expertise or technical security — we bring both. Our team covers privacy law compliance and technical data security in a single integrated assessment.
Real Data Flow Analysis
We don't rely on questionnaires. Our DPIA starts with actual system architecture review, network diagrams, and API mapping — giving you a data flow picture that reflects what really happens, not what the policy says.
Multi-Framework Coverage
A single engagement addresses GDPR, India DPDP Act, UAE PDPL, Saudi PDPL, CCPA, and other applicable frameworks simultaneously — so you don't need separate assessments for each jurisdiction.
DPA Consultation Support
When residual risk is high, GDPR requires consultation with the Data Protection Authority. We prepare the submission package and support the consultation process — most firms don't offer this.
Engagement Delivery
Privacy compliance and security assessment, integrated.
In a world where customers demand transparency and control over their data, organisations that prioritise privacy stand out. Our DPIA programme combines legal compliance and technical security depth to deliver assessments that satisfy regulators and protect your brand.
Personal Data Inventory & Mapping
Structured exercise to identify all PII, processing purposes, legal bases, and data flows across your organisation.
Privacy & Regulatory Gap Assessment
Assessment against applicable privacy regulations with findings mapped to specific requirements and remediation priorities.
Technical Security Assessment
Security controls review across access management, encryption, monitoring, and incident response mapped to privacy risks.
DPIA Report Preparation
Formal DPIA documentation in regulatory format with DPO coordination and stakeholder sign-off process.
Compliance Tracker & Annual Review
Annual review schedule and maintenance tracker to keep your privacy programme compliant as processing activities evolve.
Not Sure Where to Start
We'll identify what privacy frameworks apply and what your DPIA must cover.
Whether you're starting a new data processing activity, responding to a regulator inquiry, or building a privacy programme from scratch — our team will map your obligations and deliver a DPIA that stands up to scrutiny.
Common Questions
What is a DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessment)?
A DPIA is a formal process required under privacy laws like GDPR to identify and minimise privacy risks in data processing activities that are likely to pose high risks to individuals' rights and freedoms. It evaluates how personal data is collected, stored, used, and shared, and assesses the impact on data subjects.
How often should a DPIA be conducted?
A DPIA should be conducted before any new high-risk data processing and reviewed whenever significant changes occur. As best practice, conduct a DPIA annually and reassess for significant changes to processing activities, systems, or applicable regulations.
What is considered PII under most privacy laws?
PII includes any information that can directly or indirectly identify an individual — name, email, ID number, IP address, location data, biometrics, financial data, or health records. If the data can be decrypted or re-identified, it remains PII even when encrypted.
Do organisations need both a DPO and a cybersecurity consultant?
Yes — their roles are complementary. The DPO oversees compliance, legal alignment, and policy. The cybersecurity consultant provides technical depth, helping identify and mitigate security risks that may impact data subjects. Both are essential for a complete privacy programme.
What is the difference between a Data Controller and a Data Processor?
A data controller determines the purpose and means of processing personal data. A data processor processes personal data on behalf of the controller. The controller holds primary legal responsibility; processors have direct obligations under GDPR for security and breach notification. A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is legally required between them.
When is DPA consultation with a regulator required?
Under GDPR Article 36, prior consultation with the supervisory authority is required when a DPIA indicates that processing would result in high residual risk to data subjects and the organisation cannot identify sufficient measures to mitigate the risk.
